Reverse Repo Rate

    Reverse Repurchase Rate

    Macroeconomics

The rate at which banks park surplus funds with the RBI. Together with the repo rate it forms the corridor within which overnight market rates move.

    Why it matters

It sets the floor for short-term rates: no bank lends to the market below what the RBI pays risk-free.
