Privacy

This site collects as little as it can and sells none of it.

    Reading

Page views are counted with Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not build visitor profiles. It records the page, the referrer, the browser type, and the country. No personal data is stored.

    Newsletter

The newsletter is sent with Brevo. If you subscribe, your email address, and your name if you give one, are held by Brevo solely to send the newsletter. Creating an account does not subscribe you: the sign-up form has a separate, unticked box for the newsletter, and you are added only if you tick it. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.

    Accounts

If you create an account, your email address and profile details are stored with Supabase, which hosts the site's database. Bookmarks, reading progress, and comments are tied to that account. You can delete the account from Settings; the data goes with it.

    Comments

Research pieces have a comment section. You can comment without an account. You may give a name, which is shown publicly with a "Guest" label; leave it blank and the comment is posted as "Anonymous" with a number. No email is asked for. A guest comment cannot be edited or deleted afterwards, so if you need one removed, use the contact page. If you are signed in, your comment is posted under your display name and linked to your account, and you can edit or delete it. Comments are stored with Supabase. Signed-in readers can report a comment, and a comment that several readers report is hidden until it is reviewed.

    Stored in your browser

The site keeps a few small items in your browser: your light or dark theme, whether you have already seen the site tour, and your login session if you sign in. While the page is open, it also remembers when you last posted a comment, to slow down spam. These stay in your browser and are not used for advertising.

    Third parties

Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which sees the request for the font file. There are no advertising networks and no social tracking pixels on this site.
