    Background

    BSE, founded in 1875, is a SEBI-recognised stock exchange. It became the full owner of the index provider Asia Index in May 2024.

    Scope and powers

    BSE monitors listed companies' disclosures, runs the BSE 100 ESG Index through Asia Index, and operates a Social Stock Exchange segment.

    Investor relevance

    Like NSE, BSE is a source of company filings and index data, and its SSE segment is another route for social sector fundraising.
