    Grid Controller of India (Grid-India)

The operator of India's national and regional power grids, and the registry for the carbon credit trading scheme.

    Official site

    Background

Grid-India, formerly POSOCO, runs the national and regional load despatch centres that balance electricity supply and demand.

    Scope and powers

Besides operating the grid, Grid-India maintains the registry for Carbon Credit Certificates under the CCTS. The certificates then trade on India's power exchanges.

    Investor relevance

Registry records show certificate issuance and surrender, which will matter for estimating supply, demand and prices once CCTS trading is established.
