Carbon credit certificate (CCC)
ESG & GovernanceThe tradable unit of India's CCTS, representing one tonne of CO2 equivalent.
CCCs are issued by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency to obligated entities that beat their emission intensity targets, and to registered projects under the offset mechanism. They are recorded in a registry run by Grid-India and traded on CERC-registered power exchanges. Obligated entities that miss their targets must surrender CCCs to cover the gap.
