    Background

    NITI Aayog replaced the Planning Commission in 2015. It advises central and state governments on policy.

    Scope and powers

    NITI Aayog publishes the SDG India Index, which ranks states on progress towards the SDGs, and prepares policy studies on energy, mobility and climate. It is also represented on the Green Finance Working Committee that oversees sovereign green bond allocations.

    Investor relevance

    Its reports often signal the direction of future policy, such as on electric mobility, green hydrogen or energy storage.
