Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
ESG & GovernanceSeventeen goals adopted by UN member countries in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The SDGs cover poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, water, energy, jobs, infrastructure, inequality, cities, consumption, climate, oceans, land, peace and partnerships. Each goal has targets and indicators. Governments use them to track national progress; in India, NITI Aayog publishes the SDG India Index. Companies and investors use the SDGs to describe their contribution to wider goals, but broad SDG claims are easy to make and should be backed by specific, measured results.
