Acute physical risk
ESG & GovernanceClimate risk from sudden extreme events, such as cyclones, floods, heatwaves and wildfires.
Acute events can damage plants, disrupt logistics, cut power and halt production for days or weeks. In India, examples include cyclones on the east and west coasts, urban flooding and heatwaves that reduce labour productivity. Analysts can assess acute risk by mapping a company's sites against hazard data and checking insurance cover and past disruptions.
