Insider trading
ESG & GovernanceTrading in a company's shares while holding unpublished price sensitive information about it.
SEBI's Prohibition of Insider Trading Regulations 2015 bar insiders from trading on, or passing on, unpublished price sensitive information (UPSI). Companies must close the trading window around results, require designated persons to get approval for large trades, bar opposite trades within six months, and keep a digital record of everyone who receives UPSI. Repeated SEBI actions against a company's insiders suggest weak controls on information.
