Green revenue share
Formula
Green revenue share
Green Revenue Share (%) = Revenue from eligible green activities ÷ Total revenue × 100
Variables
| Revenue from eligible green activities | Revenue from products or services that meet a stated definition of green, such as a taxonomy, an index provider's classification or the company's own published list |
| Total revenue | Revenue from operations for the same year and boundary |
Finding the inputs
Segment revenue is in the notes to the financial statements and the management discussion and analysis. Product-level splits are often only in investor presentations. Some companies report taxonomy-aligned revenue, capex and opex in sustainability reports, especially those with EU operations. State which definition of green is used.
Reading the number
A higher share means more of the business already serves low-carbon or sustainable demand. The figure is only as good as the definition behind it: including "enabling" activities such as transmission lines or efficient appliances can raise it sharply. Pair it with the green share of capex, which shows where the company is heading, and with total emissions, because a company can grow green revenue while its high-carbon business also grows.
