    A consistent description of a possible future path for emissions, policy, technology and warming, used to test climate risk.

    Scenarios are not forecasts. Analysts use two to four contrasting ones, such as a fast transition to net zero and a high-warming current policies world, to see how a company's cash flows and assets would fare. Common sources are the NGFS, the IEA and the IPCC. IFRS S2 requires companies to assess their climate resilience using scenario analysis.
