Stakeholder
ESG & GovernanceAny person or group that affects, or is affected by, a company's activities.
Stakeholders include shareholders, employees, contract workers, customers, suppliers, lenders, local communities, regulators and civil society groups. Problems with stakeholders often turn into financial risk: strikes, protests, fines or lost customers. Principle 4 of India's National Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct asks businesses to respect and respond to the interests of all stakeholders, and the BRSR asks companies how they identify and engage with them.
