UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs)
ESG & GovernanceThe global standard, endorsed by the UN Human Rights Council in June 2011, that sets out the duties of states and the responsibilities of businesses on human rights.
The UNGPs rest on three pillars: the state duty to protect, the corporate responsibility to respect and access to remedy. They introduced human rights due diligence, which many later laws and standards, including the NGRBC and the EU's due diligence directive, build on.
