In water-stressed areas, businesses face a higher risk of shortages, rationing, higher costs and conflict with communities and farmers. Large parts of India face high water stress, especially in the north-west and south. The BRSR's leadership indicators ask companies to report withdrawal, consumption and discharge in water-stressed areas. Water risk should be assessed site by site.
