E-voting
ESG & GovernanceElectronic voting by shareholders on company resolutions, mandatory for listed companies in India.
Listed companies must let shareholders vote electronically on all resolutions put to a general meeting or postal ballot, and must publish results within two working days. The results show votes for and against from promoters, public institutions and public non-institutions. This breakdown is a valuable signal: heavy opposition from institutions to a resolution that still passes on promoter votes often points to a governance concern.
