Stewardship code
ESG & GovernanceA set of principles asking institutional investors to act as responsible owners of the companies they invest in.
SEBI's stewardship code, issued on 24 December 2019 for mutual funds and alternative investment funds, has six principles: a stewardship policy, managing conflicts of interest, monitoring investee companies, a policy on intervention, a voting policy with disclosure of votes, and collaboration with other investors. IRDAI and PFRDA have similar codes for insurers and pension funds. Mutual funds must publish how they voted on every resolution.
