GFANZ (Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero)
ESG & GovernanceA coalition of financial institutions launched in 2021 to speed the move to a net zero economy, which restructured at the start of 2025.
GFANZ originally brought together sector alliances for banks, asset managers, asset owners and insurers. After a string of departures and political pressure in the United States, it announced at the start of 2025 that institutions would no longer join through sector alliances or need a net zero commitment. It now focuses on public-private partnerships, work with development banks and transition finance. The Net-Zero Banking Alliance, once part of it, stopped operating in October 2025.
