ESG & GovernanceWaste that can harm health or the environment because it is toxic, flammable, corrosive or reactive.
In India, hazardous waste is governed by the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, which require authorisation, safe storage, transport and disposal through approved facilities. The BRSR asks companies to report hazardous waste generated and how it was handled. Poor handling can lead to closure orders, fines and community action.
