Impact investing

    ESG & Governance

Investing with the intention to generate positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return.

This is the GIIN's definition. Impact investors set impact goals before investing, measure results and aim to show that their money helped cause the change. The GIIN's 2024 sizing study put the global market at about $1.571 trillion. Impact investing is common in private markets, such as funds for small businesses, clean energy and affordable housing, and less common in listed equities.
