Theory of change
ESG & GovernanceA map of how an activity is expected to lead to a desired change, from inputs and activities to outputs, outcomes and long-term impact.
A theory of change makes the assumptions behind a programme explicit, such as "employers in the district are hiring the skills we teach". This lets the assumptions be tested and the right outcome metrics chosen. It is the starting point for most impact measurement and for SSE fundraising documents.
