Training hours per employee
Formula
Training hours per employee
Training Hours per Employee = Total training hours delivered in the year ÷ Average number of employees
Variables
| Total training hours | Hours of training received by employees in the year, including skills, safety and compliance training |
| Average number of employees | Average of opening and closing headcount for the group |
Finding the inputs
The BRSR (Principle 3) shows the share of employees and workers who received health and safety and skills training. Training hours are usually in sustainability reports, often split by gender and level (as under GRI 404-1).
Reading the number
More training can mean better skills and lower turnover, but quantity alone says little. Check how much is skills training rather than mandatory compliance modules, and whether workers and contract staff receive safety training. Compare with peers and over time.
