Energy intensity
ESG & GovernanceEnergy used per unit of revenue or output, a measure of how efficiently a company uses energy.
Energy intensity per rupee of turnover adjusted for purchasing power parity is a BRSR Core indicator, and companies may also report it per unit of output. Falling energy intensity usually means better efficiency, although changes in product mix and prices also affect the revenue-based version. India's PAT scheme set targets in a related measure, specific energy consumption. See the Energy Intensity formula.
