Nationally determined contribution (NDC)
ESG & GovernanceA country's own climate plan and targets submitted under the Paris Agreement, updated every five years.
Each party to the Paris Agreement sets its own NDC, covering emission targets and actions. Each new NDC is expected to be more ambitious than the last. India's NDCs use emissions intensity of GDP and non-fossil power capacity as their main targets. India's third NDC, covering 2031 to 2035, was submitted to the UN in April 2026. For investors, an NDC is the starting point for tracing which domestic policies are likely to affect a sector.
